Among the etchings chosen by the Fight Club star is an outline of Otzi the Iceman on his left forearm accompanied by the words 'absurdites de l' existence' – 'life is absurd' in French. He has also been spotted with designs on his back and reportedly has Angelina's birthday, 06/4/75 written in Khmer - the language of Cambodia - on his lower stomach

Cover girl Kate Moss extended her tattoo collection when she added a tiny anchor on her right wrist to the pair of swallows on her lower back, the heart on her left hand and a crown of her left shoulder 

Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom and seven other actors, including Ian McKellan, Elijah Wood, Sean Bean and Viggo Mortensen commemorated their time working on the Lord of the Rings by getting the Elvish symbol for the number nine tattooed on their bodies - Orlando on his right wrist. The English star also has a coloured sun design inked on his lower stomach 

Lindsay Lohan

Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan has built up quite a collection of tattoos over the years. Her numerous inkings include two Marilyn Monroe quotes – 'Everyone's a star and deserves the right to twinkle' and 'I restore myself when I am alone' – as well as the word 'SHHH' on her finger, 'Breathe' written on her wrist, a tiny heart on her hand, the number 7 on the back of her neck and a cluster of stars on the inside of her left wrist 

Shia LaBeouf

Megan Fox isn’t the only Transformers star who is a fan of body art. Shia LaBeouf also has a number of tattoos, including the dates 1986 – 2004 on his right wrist to commemorate his childhood. The Wall Street 2 actor also has a paw print inked on his left shoulder and a tattoo of his dog on his arm, plus a piece inspired by artwork on his ribcage 

Lady Gaga

Just like Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga is fast gaining a reputation for the many inkings on her body. Among the designs is a tribute to her fans reading 'little monsters', a peace symbol located on her left wrist, daisy designs on her left shoulder and along the bottom of her back, and a quotation in German from her favourite philosopher, poet Maria Rilke, which reads: "In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep in your heart where it spreads its roots, the answer, and ask yourself, must I write?" 

Heidi Klum

In honour of her love for British musician Seal, Heidi Klum marked the couple's fourth wedding anniversary in May 2008 by inscribing her husband's name on to her body. The abstract adornment, written in cursive script, is placed on her right foreman and the initials of her first three children – Leni, Henry and Johan – appear in the three accompanying stars 

Scarlett Johansson

One of the most distinctive tattoos in Hollywood belongs to Scarlett Johansson. The circular design, which is found on her left forearm, features an array of colours and depicts a sun setting over the sea with a star in the sky

Sarah Michelle Gellar is another star who is a big fan of body art. The actress has a Chinese symbol for 'to trust' or 'to believe' on her left hip, a symbol for patience on her right ankle, cherry blossoms represented on her left ankle, and two dragonflies on her lower back
